RESCUE 911
Here is some more info about the event on Saturday with saving the 7 puppies from being put down in the shelter. There were a total of 9, when the Shelter called HARP to intervene to try and find homes for these puppies, 1 was adopted out and 1 died due to complications.

At the start of Saturday, 5-30-2009, HARP members were on a mission to save the remaining 7 puppies from the dreadful euthanization procedures performed by the Blackshear Animal Shelter. These policies have been in place for some time now and most animals are kept for 7 days. The first 4 days are for the owner to be able to claim their animal, the last 3 days were put in place to help our group to find homes for them. Well, it's a policy that does not allow the appropiate time to advertise the found animals and show to the public. HARP donates it's time and effort to post these pictures, that are taken by HARP members not the shelter, on various locations such as: ATC's channel 19, which ATC donates to help with advertising these animals to the community, and www.humane-arp.org/blackshearanimalshelter.aspx is a part of HARP's web site that dedicates to just advertising about animals in the shelter. So as you can see their are plenty of resources that point to helping people find out what animals are in the shelter. But it seems that the only people concerned are people who are not working at the shelter, go figure. But HARP commends them for contacting us to help with these 7 puppies .
When HARP picked up these puppies that morning, the first thing we did was give them a much needed bath, peeyoo. They were grateful to be bathed and the members enjoyed it also..

Once bathed and clean, they were ready to be left alone so they could take a nap.

So we left Cameron in charge of watching them to make sure they were ok and not scared.
He did a great job too.

At the Summer In the City Event we had a great turnout considering how hot it was that day. Most people were having fun with the bubbles we had set up for kids and adults to play with at our HARP booth. One kid was really throwing the bubbles, master of the swing, give that kid a baseball coach.

Blowing bubbles and holding puppies is how most of the day went. Everyone that looked and held the puppies fell in love with them and wanted to take them home, of course. But only 7 were available, so it was first come first served. It went well and we were able to find homes for all 7 puppies so that is a superb feat in itself. Below is some more pictures of the people involved in the adoption and bubble making, enjoy.
