H.A.R.P. in a flash
Welcome to the H.A.R.P. website, this site was created to inform the community of the events and tasks that we are doing and plan to do in the future. Our goal is to become an organization that rescues animals in need and create an adoptable, Spayed/Neutered, animal for you to have in your home.

HARP needs your info to help in finding out what your thoughts are about Pet Awareness in our community. Please take our short survey and look for the results once we have enough information to post. It will be interesting.

River City Community Animal Hospital of Jacksonville

River City has a spay/neuter mobile unit that visits our surrounding area. HARP is letting people know about this organization because of their discounted rates. HARP is still in the process of renewing our spay/neuter grant but this is a drawn out process. If you are interested in setting up an appointment to get you animal spayed or neutered go to this website and call and make your appointment. They have a RCCAH calendar with info on where they set up during the month and they have fees posted at RCCAH Services.
At this time for the Ware County area they are setting up at Tractor Supply on US 1, make sure you check the gender of services as they do canine on one visit and feline on other visits.

If you need assistance on how to contact and set up these appointments please feel free to contact Kurt Hawkins at admin@humane-arp.org

Spring Event at Walgreens

Our event at Walgreens in Waycross was a success in the attempt to help raise awareness and find homes for pets in the area. HARP was able to find homes for all the animals that were in the Blacksehar Animal Shelter. The other organizations that were there also found homes for most of the animals that they brought to the event. Below is a few pictures from the event....

New Page for lost animals

I have recently added a LOOKING FOR HOMES PAGE to let people in the community know about the animals that people are just dropping off for someone else to take care of or to leave for who knows what. So if you are looking for a pet, take a look at this PAGE for updated pictures of abandoned animals.

H.A.R.P. Needs Members!! HARP is looking for new members to step up and bring new ideas for our cause. We are looking for people of action with a passion. Do you feel like you could make a difference in an animal's life in Blackshear and be willing to stand up for it? Well H.A.R.P. needs YOU, so come and join our group and bring these fresh ideas to life. Things get done quicker and more effieciently when you have a group of  people behind you, so in order to get things done in our community we need more participation from our community. So think about it and come join us at our next meeting.

Are You Having a Stray Animal Problem In Your Neighborhood?

Alot of people in the Pierce County community are calling and complaining about people dropping off animals in their area. If you are one of these people, you need to contact your local county commissioner in your district and let them know of this problem to try and help solve this problem. The site for Pierce County is www.piercecountyga.org , go there and email your comments to your commissioner today.

HARP HOMELESS FUND

HARP is starting a homeless fund for animals that are left behind due to familes having to move or that have had a disaster to their home or a drastic change in their lives. We feel like these animals need to have a place to go and HARP want's to be that place.
But to do this we have got to have a facility to house these animals in need. So HARP is starting a Homeless Fund to build towards a facility to be able to house and feed and care for these animals until a qualified home is available for adoption. Now to do such a thing it is going to take tremendous funds that HARP doesn't have, so it is going to be up to the community to step up and realize there is a need for this type of facility.
HARP will be holding fund raisers in the near future to help boost the awareness of this project. So look for updates!
Just think about a facility such as this and how it would affect the community in helping with homeless animals. A no-kill facility unlike our local city shelter. So if you would like to change the way animals are handled when left homeless in Pierce, Ware and adjoining counties who are interested in promoting this facility, then do your part by donating what you can to help make this happen.
HARP will use our last two donations to start this fund.
